Cheshire Fire Service gets smart safety fleet from DFM

Daimler Fleet Management is supplying Cheshire Fire Service with 20 liveried smart cars to publicise its “BE SMART BE SAFE” fire protection campaign, which targets Cheshire’s elderly and vulnerable.
A fleet of distinctive smart cars (which have replaced the service’s existing pool car fleet) is promoting fire prevention throughout Cheshire, urging the public to “Be smart, be safe” on their distinctive promotional livery. The 20 smart fortwos, leased to Cheshire Fire Service by all-makes fleet management company Daimler Fleet Management (DFM), also includes two vehicles liveried in traditional “Battenberg” red and yellow squares like mini fire engines.
The campaign, mainly focused on the over 60s who form 23% of Cheshire’s 1,000,000 population, publicises Cheshire Fire Service’s offer of free fire safety checks and the installation of free smoke alarms for vulnerable members of the community. The 4-year fire prevention programme focused in this way, is the first of its kind in the UK.
Driven by frontline fire safety officers, the high visibility smart cars will be seen at campaign promotions in schools, shopping centres and other public locations as well as going about their business in towns and villages throughout the County. The two Battenberg smarts will also be used at roadshows promoting safety relating to traffic accidents.

The Cheshire Fire service smart fleet is under 3-year 20,000-mile contract hire with DFM, maintenance being handled at the customer’s workshops. The vehicles were supplied via the Manchester smart dealership.
