MPG Contracts fleet win for DFM

September 2006

Daimler Fleet Management has become sole supplier for MPG Contracts car fleet following a recent sale & leaseback agreement.

MPG Contracts Limited, an MPG Group Company and a leading specialist building contractor, has awarded the task of managing its expanding car fleet to Daimler Fleet Management  (DFM).  The vehicles are being provided for MPG Contracts, (dry lining and interior fit-outs) and its fellow subsidiaries MPG Facades (Exterior cladding and rendering) and Universal Sky Platforms (sky platform rental).

Providing the contract hire with full maintenance on a sole supply basis, DFM has recently acquired the company’s 60-vehicle mixed fleet through a sale & leaseback deal. DFM is assisting MPG in formulating a new car policy strategy to meet fleet expansion demands. MPG has increased its turnover from £12 million three years ago to an estimated £55 million in 2006 and the company’s five year plan is to raise this to £100 million. The fleet size is also predicted to double over the next five years or sooner.

Frank Silvester, Finance Director of MPG Contracts, explained: “With contract hire, our fleet costs are fixed and the company does not carry the risks of vehicle depreciation and rising service and maintenance charges. We looked at the offers of several fleet management suppliers and Daimle Fleet Management, as well as being competitive, demonstrated a more in-depth understanding and approach to our requirements.”

A number of vehicles in the fleet are required for personnel involved in site management and, with contracts throughout the UK, tend to clock up high mileages on business. Measures recommended by DFM have included the introduction of a grading system for vehicle allocation and fuel management support through the euroShell fuel card, provided through DFM’s joint partner Shell UK.  This gives employees access to an extensive network of Shell and Esso forecourts across the UK and provides the customer with comprehensive reporting and analysis.
